Use of It

It নিম্নলিখিত ক্ষেত্রে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Inanimate object : বা জড় পদার্থ বোঝাতে।
উদাহরণ : I have written a letter and I want to send it to my father.
Inferior animals : বা ইতর প্রাণী বুঝাতে।
উদাহরণ : we have a dog and we love it very much.
উভয় লিঙ্গের baby বা শিশু বুঝাতে :
উদাহরণ : the child is crying for its mother.
Preparatory aur provisional subject রূপে sentence এর প্রথমে :
উদাহরণ : it's good to take physical exercise regularly.
it is bad to tell a lie.
Note : উপরের নিয়মে It ব্যবহৃত হলে এরপর সাধারনত Infinitive phrase বা that clause বসে।
যেমন
it is wrong to say so.
it is true that he will come.
এখন sentence এর প্রথমে It ব্যবহার করতে না চাইলে Infinitive phrase বা that clause আগে বসাতে হয়।
যেমন
to say so is wrong.
that he will come is true.
It কখনো কখনো object এর পরিবর্তে provisional object রূপে বসে।
যেমন
he thinks it fine to sacrifice.
Note: ছাত্র-ছাত্রীদের উপরের বাক্যগুলো মনে হতে পারে কিন্তু আসলে কঠিন নয়। উপরের বাক্যটি কিভাবে গঠিত হলো তার নিচে দেখানো হলো। he thinks that it is fine to sacrifice. ( তিনি মনে করেন যে ত্যাগ করা ভালো।)
এই বাক্যটির that এবং is তুলে দিলে থাকে : he thinks it find to sacrifice. যার অর্থ আগের বাক্যের অর্থের মত। শুধু বাক্যের গঠনরূপ ভিন্ন। আগের উল্লেখিত কোন বক্তব্যকে আবার নির্দেশ করতে:
he called me but I did not know it. ( এখানে it = his calling me. তার ডাকা।)
For emphasis: জোর দেয়ার জন্য। you have done it ( তুমি একাজ করেছ)
কিন্তু যদি বলি তুমিই এ কাজ করেছ তাহলে লিখতে হবে it is you who have done it. এখানে it দ্বারা পরবর্তী pronoun, YOU এর উপর জোর দেয়া হয়েছে। এভাবে : it is Beena who has won the prize.
কখনো কখনো Cognate object রূপে ব্যবহৃত হয় :
we will have to walk the way. না লিখে যদি লিখি।
we will have to walk it.
তাহলে It দ্বারা the way কে বুঝায় এবং যেহেতু the way একটি cognate object সেহেতু it ও একটি cognate object রূপে কাজ করেছে।
এভাবে : they will have to fight it (it= the fight) to the end.
he dreamt it (it = this dream) long before.
sentence এ কোন subject না থাকলে, ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুকে না বুঝিয়ে নৈর্ব্যক্তিকভাবে ( impersonally)
it is raining (বৃষ্টি হচ্ছে)
it is very cold today. ( আজ খুব ঠান্ডা)
it is 9 o'clock. (৯ টা বাজে)
